The Old Dunford Barn Hyw 97

The Historic Swauk Valley

Gold, Cows, Horses, Water, and Hay are what the Swauk Valley has been known for over 125 years.   Since the 1870’s and continuing to  today the Ranch on Swauk Creek has been a working cattle and horse ranch. Over the century the ranch has grown from a small ranch to where it now covers about 1,000 acres of forest and pasture lands.  The Ranch is the home to the oldest stick framed ranch houses in the county.  In the early 1800’s  the ranch was a prize area where the local tribes would hunt in the summers.  Arrow heads have been found in many places on the property. The Cattle Barn no longer is the home to cattle and horses but has been remodeled into a stunning rustic event center for those wishing for a western wedding near Cle Elum.  To the left is the Dunford Barn, located on the Ranch, built around the turn of the  century.
